JAMSHORO Jamshoro in Sindh province is the site of the third largest thermal power station in the system developed by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Guddu and Kot Addu are the largest plants in the system The Jamshoro power plant houses four oil-fired units, each capable of generating 220 MW of electric power, thus providing the plant with a total capacity of 880MW In 1994, the government of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto initiated a phased program for the privatization of the WAPDA This program included the power plant at Kot Addu as well as the one at Jamshoro The plant was privatized in 1996-it was sold to a consortium of companies led by a British firm See also ENERGY
